My practice/DEV rig contains 4 types of cheap Chinese lights. Capture does not have a profile for them. Is there a way to define a custom fixture profile in Capture so I may practice my virtual vs. real chops on my DEV rig?

I have created a show template that has all of the lights I own in it with groups/presets, etc good to go.
When I show up to run a show that will not use all of the lights I would like to get rid of the unused ones as they could effect grouping tools, etc. Is there a way to temporarily turn them off without deleting them? Maybe u…[Read more]

Thanks guys! I did not even notice that 2nd page of Fx encoders on intensity.
JP – I was considering some custom effects using a chase cue. However, you are talking about using a cue-list. I take it you use a macro to auto select the next cue and then mess with the fade and delay times to coordinate the effect?
Why a cue-list over a c…[Read more]

Yes I have watched the video on how you program your show. I have also watched all of David’s about punting and the beginner and advanced Onyx. I gathered lots of useful information from them and could probably stand to watch them a few more times.
However, I did not notice any direct reference to lights that need an intensity plus at l…[Read more]

For situations where a light needs a color fader and intensity fader to be greater than 0 before light actually emits, would you add the white color preset to the “Master Fader” cue so that all the lights are on and white if the Master Fader is the only active cue?
How exactly do you desaturate a color in Onyx?
I am trying to apply the concept of desaturating the lights that are shining on the front of the band.
Once a color is desaturated, do you save it as a new preset. Such as “Desaturated Blue”, etc.
Thanks so much David! I have already watched all of the videos you directed me to, but will rewatch today to help refine my strategy and we will see where it goes.
Thank you for taking so much time to help me during this important time for your family/business. I look forward to scheduling some 1-on-1 time with you whenever you are a…[Read more]
Thanks JP! This is perfect. You guys rock. So glad I joined here. I am progressing at a much faster rate now.
BTW – I would love to also hear your thoughts on my questions here if you get a chance: https://learnstagelightinglabs.com/forums/topic/trying-to-schedule-a-1-on-1-call-failing.
Congratulations on the new family member!
I am trying to set up control of a light show for my band from a MIDI pedal (https://www.rjmmusic.com/mastermind-gt-22). Among a bunch of general questions, I wanted to get your opinion on the best strategy for running the show and executing my duties as the lead guitarist. Obviously punting a show w…[Read more]
The site is telling me there are no times available well into 2021 – where I stopped trying to forward by months. Is this feature dead? I would really like to schedule an hour long call ASAP if possible. I have a show coming up February 21 and I need some help. Thanks!
So if I use this technique, when the fly-out cue (cue 2) auto-releases, will the lights go back to their prior pan/tilt position and prior color/intensity (cue 1) or do I have to do something more to make that happen?
I have observed that if a cue 1 is active and you activate a cue 2, it seems that the first the cue 1 parameters that…[Read more]
I control my light show using an RJM Mastermind GT-22 MIDI pedal (the same one that controls my guitar rig). Thus, I do not really have access to faders with my feet. This means I have to use a button to accomplish triggering the effect.
I would like to create a fly-out override that takes the lights from where they are to some sky p…[Read more]
